Jackalope Training Series 2017

Come join us for a series of 5 runs that gradually increase in distance every month!

The series is a laid back way to connect with the local running community and prepare for the Take it to the Lake Half Marathon & 10K races.

All levels welcome!

Run 1: Cave Valley Loop on Saturday April 15th at 9:30am

Meet at dirt pull-out at intersection of Cave Valley Rd. & Great Basin Hwy. 93 (Near Comins Lake).

3.4 mile dirt road loop starting off of Cave Valley Road, running east on a two-track to the powerline road and take another two-track back to Cave Valley Road. If too muddy, Cave Valley Road will be the backup.

Run 2: Cave Springs Loop on Saturday, May 13th at 9:30am

Take Great Basin Highway to the turn-off for Cave Lake State Park (SR486).  Continue for 6.5 miles. Meeting spot will be on your right at the lower parking lot, just after NF-574.  Parking is out of fee area.

4.9 mile dirt/trail road loop through pinyon/juniper hills near Cave Lake Reservoir.

Run 3:  Ward Mountain Trailhead Campground, July 8 at 9:30am

6.6 miles - This beautiful trail climbs up to the second warming hut, gaining 1,085 feet in elevation.  From there you will run downhill on a two-track road until you meet up with the G trail an take it back to the trailhead.  This run will be challenging but will help prepare you for the 1,876 elevation gain at Take it to the Lake half marathon.  Are you worried about the climb?  Walk the uphills and run the downhills.

Shorter distance option - 1.9 total miles up to the 1st warming hut and back.

Take Hwy 6 to Ward Mountain Campground.  Drive to very end of campground to trailhead.

Run 4: July 29th

Run 5: August 26th - 8.5 miles Snake Creek Rd. at Great Basin National Park

Check back for future run descriptions and updates.

Runs will leave 5 minutes after the meetup time!

Come prepared rain or shine!
