Every March the turkey vultures return to Ely after a relaxing winter in South America. This run is to honor these not-so-pretty birds and welcome them and spring back to Ely! The route takes you past the Ely Cemetery where you have a chance of seeing a turkey vulture with its wings outstretched in a tree.

There will be no same day registration. Everyone must register online.

Event Details:
- Medals will be award to the top three male and female finishers, top three kids (12 years and younger), and top 3 seniors (55+). To be considered for placing, select the option during online registration.
- If a youth wants to be considered in adult placing, then they must sign-up for the adult event.
- Example: 11-year-old boy registers for the adult category, crosses the finish line as 3rd male, they would place 3rd in the adult male category. They would not also place in the kid/youth division.
- Example: 11-year-old registers under the adult category, crosses the finish line 4th, but is the first kid crossing the finish line they would not place in the kid category because they were racing in the adult division.
- Seniors that place 1, 2, or 3 overall will not place in the 55 or younger category, but place in the senior category only.
- The route is not closed to traffic. All participants must run on the left side of road, against traffic.
- There are no dogs allowed on the course.
- Strollers and wagons are permitted on the course.
- This event will occur rain, snow, or shine.
THe Course
2025 COURSE: This year the course will start and end at Steptoe Park. Runners will run down Avenue K, take a left on E 13th Street, a left on E. Madison Ave, left onto California Ave which turns into Grant Ave, right back onto E 3th Street, and a right onto Avenue K to the finish line.
